President Trump’s belligerent posture towards Nigeria stems from a combination of motivations. His continuation of President Biden’s world view that is based on the diseased zero-sum mentality of the rules-based international order. And his appeasement to the so called Christian right, which is a large section of his MAGA constituency.

How many people should be killed to call it a genocide?
In Ethiopis ethnic Amharas and orthodox Christians are killed.Thr total Ethiopian/Oromo defense Force is using ground, air Force and even drones to kill my people. How many people should be killed to call it a genocide?
Study the meaning of genocide as defined by the United Nations. Genocide is not not defined by an amount of people killed. It is numbers of deaths per se, rather it is the evidence on INTENT. In war hundreds of thousands or millions are killed. It is ugly and horrible, but it is not genocide. Genocide is the explicit intent to eliminate a specific group, or ethnicity. It is beyond murder and killing.
The definition contained in Article II of the Convention describes genocide as a crime committed with the intent to destroy a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, in whole or in part. It does not include political groups or so called “cultural genocide”.
I see death in Ethiopia and Nigeria, but I do not see evidence of intent to destroy or eliminate a specific group. I don’t believe there is evidence to suggest there was, or is genocide against the Amharas, Tigrayans, Christians, or white farmers in Ethiopia, Nigeria, or South Africa. These allegations are motivated to achieve a political end.
